Winter wonderland of Canada
By Paul Milross
The view outside of my window is very picture postcard at the moment with white snow covering everything. It reminds me of the Christmas carol 'In the Bleak Midwinter' - Snow on Snow, although it is far from being a bleak midwinter. Yes the temperature is -14 and it is slippy underfoot but it is truly magical.
Classes have restarted and this semester seems much busier than last for some reason although we do get a reading week this term which is much needed already! I have lots of exciting things coming up including a trip to Jasper to see the Rockies in all their glory, dog sledging and tobogganing, a trip to the AWP writer's conference in Tampa, Florida, and a trip to Las Vegas. (I am here to study I promise!)
As well as my studies I am currently the production assistant on a theatre production of Frankenstein with a local professional company here. It is so interesting to see how Canadian theatre differs from that in the UK both onstage and how it is created.
So, you can be sure that in the coming weeks there will be much more to read about from the above activities. Until then stay safe and well.
