Workshops, events and visiting employers

The Careers & Employability team run several events and workshops. They also invite employers onto campus for you to meet and to prepare you for the world of work:
 
Tuesday 30 January Half an hour at midday


How to find work, AB 1.03, BOC, 12-12.30pm
A brief 30 minute session for some top tips on finding work, looking at key places for part-time work, and jobs for when you leave, key recruitment websites and the best places to look.

Get some fantastic work experience and fun this summer in USA, BOC, 1pm AB 1.03
CCUSA are back on campus to promote their fantastic summer camps where you may coach students in a particular skill or sport or performing arts or be a camp counsellor. After their talk at 1pm, find them at the BOC SIZ Job-hunting desk from 2pm - 3pm

Find out about yourself, your skills, and how you can sell your great experience midday in BRC, Dome 1.05
Your degree, knowledge and skills gained, your work and placements have all added to your experience and abilities, and make up as the work ready person you are.  Learn to recognise your attributes, motivations and strengths.

Build your personal brand. Be confident that your CVs, application forms and letters are selling your skills and experience in the best positive way.  Learn the importance of both presentation and content, and how to use positive words to tailor your documents to the role you are applying for.

A half an hour session to help you prepare to meet organisations at the fair, questions you may want to ask, things to put on your CV, what to wear and how to make a good impression and to ensure you get round all the companies who are there.

       Meet with 25+ organisations with jobs you can apply to
       Talk with employers and find out about their company and roles
       Find out about the skills they are looking for and how you apply
       Take your CV to leave with a company so they can get in touch
 
Graduate jobs don’t have to directly link to your degree. You have developed great transferable skills which have prepared you for many roles.
